I've gone back to some old felted sweaters I had and started swaddling them with yarn. It both answers my compulsive need to stitch, knot, bundle, and my urge to transform materials into new textures and surfaces:
Right now it looks a bit like an animal hide when hung (which I do NOT want) so I think I need to keep "growing" it....
Of course, I couldn't help wrapping the cutout pieces into little bundles:
Love it! Saw it on the couch the other day and went right for it! Can't wait to see what it becomes!
ReplyDeleteSophie these are just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone (Including Lisa, whose comment I deleted by mistake I'm afraid..). But to be clear Lisa, I do NOT know what I'm doing :) but I do know what I DON'T want
ReplyDeleteThank you for the feedback, as always!
Wow, Sophie, these are wonderful. I love how you're sharing your process with us, it's wonderful to know these are going to evolve into more even though I love them just as they are. I love the concept and the colors, keep going with it!
ReplyDeleteI like this artwork, its very unique, in 1000 year I wouldn't come to such an idea. Its great and I especially like the yellow bundles.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for the supportive feedback!
